PLC – our first PLC meeting will be this Sunday at 7pm here in the firehouse. The Patrol Leaders Council meets every month to set the Troop’s meeting and activity plans. All elected troop leaders, patrol leads and assistant patrol leads should plan to attend. Anyone else that is interested in influencing the Troop’s activity is encouraged to attend.
September Camping: We have dueling camping trips planned for the weekend of September 19-20th: a backpacking trip in Vermont and a local Troop campout.
Backpacking: We are splitting the backpack trip into two crews due to the high interest. Each crew will be on a separate trip to avoid excessive group sizes and overcrowding of camp sites. The backpacking trip will depart early Saturday morning. Exact departure and return time will be shared soon.
Camping: Those not backpacking are headed to Camp Split Rock in Ashburnham, MA. This campground used to host scouts for summer camp as part of the Heart of New England Council. The property is still available to scout units for tent & cabin camping. We are tent camping and will plan time for advancement and outdoor activities. The troop will depart the firehouse at 8:30am (arrive by 8:15am). Cooking is by patrol and should cover one lunch, dinner, and breakfast. Dinner should be a hot meal cooked over wood, charcoal, or stove. Lunch should be somehting that can be consumed on the go.
Patrol Time – Patrols should plan their meals for the backpacking and camping trips. Make sure you have all the supplies you need and let the quartermaster know if you’re missing anything. Any remaining time can be used for advancement.
