Camp Wanocksett
Drop off: Scouts should arrive at Camp Wanocksett (642 Upper Jaffrey Rd, Dublin, NH) promptly between 2 and 2:30pm on Sunday August 9th. Camp staff will collect your gear and direct you where to park. Please check in with Mr. Arquitt when you arrive.
Please arrive in full uniform (scout shirt, scout pants/shorts, scout socks if wearing shorts, belt). Scouts should also wear a swimsuit under their uniform or bring a swimsuit & towel with them in a separate bag as they will have the swim test before heading to their campsite. DO NOT pack your swimsuit in your trunk or the entire troop will be delayed!
What to bring: See Wanocksett’s packing list for a great guide on what to bring. A few notes on the packing list:
Two typical options for the bug net:
Sansbug or similar pop up bug net. Here’s an example. This also takes place of the mattress pad.
A bug net with some poles/sticks and tape/zipties/rope to attach to the cot.
Bedding – A sleeping bag inside the bug net works well. Sheets+blankets are another good option.
Bring a watch, preferably a cheap, non-smart, watch
Don’t bring electronics (phones, games, etc)
Bug spray needs to be in pump bottles. No aerosols are allowed at camp.
Optional: bring cash for the trading post.
Pack all your gear in a footlocker (example) with a lock. A large duffel bag or similar would also work.
Medications: Bring medications with you for check in, DO NOT LEAVE IN YOUR TRUNK. Meds should be in the original prescription bottle and have the proper number of doses for the week.
Troop Pictures: The camp takes a photograph of each troop. If you would like one, they are $17 cash or check, we will collect the money and make a list of who wants a picture during dropoff.
Trading Post: There is a trading post with typical snacks and candy that scouts can visit in their free time. Parents can also buy care packages online. The trading post will be open at drop off and pickup time for souvenirs.
Closing Ceremony & Pick up: Families are invited to join the closing ceremony on Saturday 8/15 at 9:45am on the main field (adjacent to where you dropped off your scout). It can take a while to find parking before the ceremony so arrive 15+ min early if you want to see the ceremony. Pickup starts at 10:15am.
