Greenfield State Park – Troop 1 is headed to Greenfield State Park tomorrow through Sunday. Activities include hiking up Crotched Mountain and an Iron Chef competition for dinner. We will be departing the firehouse at 6pm tomorrow. That means you should be at the firehouse no later than 5:45. We will return to the firehouse Sunday at 11:30am.
Each Patrol had a signup sheet last week to record who is attending the trip. Raise your hand now if you are attending and did not sign up last week.
During Patrol time today, make sure food has been purchased, set you duty roster and check that you patrol box is complete and ready.
Troop & Patrol Elections – Troop and patrol elections will be held next week. Today is the last chance for any scout interested in one of the troop positions (SPL, ASPL, Quartermaster, and Scribe) to meet with Mr. Bhimji and discuss expectations.
All patrols will be electing patrol leads and assistant leads. You should start considering if you plan to run for patrol leadership.
Court Of Honor – Our year end Court of Honor is on Thursday, June 11th, at 7pm. The ceremony is at the fire pit outside the First Church near the Lancaster Town Green. In the event of rain, we will move inside of the church. Please bring your family to share in the celebration. It is customary for each family to bring a small snack or dessert to share.
Scouts should attend in full uniform. This is a great time to wear your merit badge sash if you have one.
Today is the last chance for Boards of Review and Scout rank Scoutmaster Conferences.
ILST – Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops training will be held on Thursday, June 18th, starting at 6pm. All elected Troop & Patrol leaders should plan to attend, along with anyone else interested in being active in troop leadership.
Merit Badge Process – Here’s Mr. Bhimji with an update on the Merit Badge process.
All scouts planning to start a merit badge need to request a signed blue card from Mr. Bhimji prior to meeting with a counselor. Your councilor will sign off requirements on the blue card as you complete them and finally to signify that you met all requirements. It is then the scout’s responsibility to have Mr. Bhimji sign the card again and submit it to the Troop. Don’t loose your blue cards!
You should use this process when working with a merit bade councilor in our Troop and if you are completing badges at a camp. The only exception if for the Troop’s week at Camp Wanocksett where you will submit you requests next week and an adult leader will pick up the blue cards.
Camp Wanocksett – Our week at Camp Wanocksett is going to be here before you know it! You will select merit badge classes during next week’s meeting. That means you should start looking into which merit badges you want to take this week. If you’re not going to be here next week, see Mr. Arquitt to submit your selections.
Scouts in the Penguin and Seagull patrol should discuss with their parents if they are attending Camp Wanocksett. You need to submit payment in order to secure your spot. The deadline is June 15th, but do it soon before you forget!
